Share the love! Enter our Bake-Off!

Since our very first open mic night, lovely people have been making donations of their own home-baked goods… We think sharing baked goods is one of the most wonderful ways to share love – and we love to share love at Milk and Cookies! We invite you to celebrate with us and add your home-baking to the mix at our open mic night – and, of course, enter your home-baking in our Bake-Off.

What’s this whole Bake-Off thing about? Our Bake-Off is the fun baking competition we run at each one of our open mic nights. We welcome entries of baked goods of all kinds (not just cookies!) – just beware, we don’t have any cutlery at Milk and Cookies, so make sure whatever you bring is finger food and can be eaten without a plate, fork or spoon! The entries will be judged by three judges, chosen randomly from among the audience. Raffle tickets given out at the door to aid in the selection of judges- do make sure you keep yours! The winning baker will be called up on stage to collect their prize and their recipe will be featured in our upcoming zine, Cookie Crumbs.

Milk and Cookies team members provide the bulk of baked goods at our events. To show our gratitude for your contribution, we do not enter our baked goods in the Bake-Off. So get your wooden spoons out… We can’t wait to taste your entries!

The first Milk and Cookies Bake-Off ever, and though entries were a little thin on the ground, forcing organisers to enter their own competition, fun was had by all! Judging by three judges (chosen randomly from the audience) was overseen by Ross Golden-Bannon, editor of Food and Wine Magazine. After a rigorous judging procedure, a very embarrassed Sarah Quigley, co-founder of Milk and Cookie Stories, was announced the winner of the competition. Of course, she gave her prize to the best cookie from a non-organiser, Niamh Ryan.

The first Milk and Cookies Bake-Off ever was so much fun for all involved, bakers, judges and the lucky people who got to eat all the delicious cookies that were contributed by the generous and skilled bakers in the audience.  Judging by three judges (chosen randomly from the audience) was overseen by Ross Golden-Bannon, editor of Food and Wine Magazine… who guided the judges through a rigorous judging procedure based on taste, texture, scent, presentation and more. It was quite a sight to see them huddling over the cookie table, deliberating seriously over each and every entry!
