After Dark 1

In the summer of 2010, we had a thought… what better way to encourage people to explore less familiar art forms than by throwing them together in one massive eclectic night-long celebration! So we thought a little more, and out of all that thinking, and a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears, emerged our first ‘After Dark’ event. If there was any single event that proved beyond any doubt that Milk and Cookie Stories is much more than just stories and cookies, that demonstrated our versatility, our organisational prowess and our capacity to throw one unforgettable party, it was ‘After Dark’.

It’s a little hard to describe ‘After Dark’. We could tell you all about how there were over 7 hours of show time, more than 30 talented and innovative performers showcasing the best of Ireland’s music, spoken word, comedy, burlesque, radio theatre, storytelling and more, LOTS of open mic storytelling, even more cookies, and over 250 guests… but that doesn’t really sum it up. We could tell you about all the home-made punch that packed a punch or about the electrifying atmosphere, a little like a cross between a basement jazz club and the most massive friendliest house party ever, but that wouldn’t quite capture it either. Get a taste of what ‘After Dark 1′ by taking a peek at this video:

Really all we can say is that ‘After Dark’ was like no other event currently running in Dublin. We had such a great time that we were inspired to hold ‘After Dark 2: Seven Deadly Sins’ in March 2011. If you really want a taste of the best of Dublin’s arts scene, you’d better just come alone to the next one.
