We managed to make it out alive, with the help of an underground tunnel and a massively whistleable tune. But you can’t keep us away! No, we’ll be back – same bat time, same bat channel, and this time the second tuesday of the month of February falls on… you guessed it! So we’ll come up with something fun and suitable.

In the meantime though, if you want to have a say in how M&CS does its thing, come to our AGM this Saturday at 2pm in Exchange!

“Lord, it’s a miracle! Man up and vanished like a fart in the wind!”
~ Warden Samuel Norton, The Shawshank Redemption

Because it’s time for us to escape the corrupt prison of 2011 for the corrupt paradise of southern Mexico. I mean 2012.

Milk and Cookie Stories is for anyone who has a story to tell, or wants to hear a tale told well, in a relaxed, friendly environment – a place with tea, cushions, cookies and friends. Our event is free, everyone is welcome and we welcome stories of all kinds.

This month we’re looking for stories about Great Escapes. Whether you escaped a POW camp in Lower Silesia during “The Emergency” or you managed to outrun a particularly spry pitbull over the Christmas break, we want to hear your thrilling tale of flight. As always, our theme is more of a guideline than a rule, so even if your story doesn’t involve you, a rock hammer and twenty years of tunnelling – we want to hear it.

As always, we’ll be having our awesome Bake-Off where we’ll be taking your finest treats and having them battle for king of the cookie so bring your champion confection! The winner will receive a lovely prize as well as a round of applause from our eternally comely audience.

So grab your grapnel and distract your guards, and tunnel your way to Temple Bar for this month’s electrifying epics of Escape…

“Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.”

And of course, Milk and Cookies <3s you!

~Jacopo (The Count of Monte Cristo)

Because revenge is a dish that should be worth the wait. It should be savoured and enjoyed with all the relish of a good story.

Milk and Cookie Stories is for anyone who has a story to tell, or wants to hear a tale told well, in a relaxed, friendly environment – a place with tea, cushions, cookies and friends. Our event is free, everyone is welcome and we welcome stories of all kinds.

This month we’re looking for stories about justice and retribution. We want to hear about you Getting Even. Tit-for-tat, eye-for-an-eye, measure-for-measure. Whether you extracted your pound of flesh with the immediacy of a slap to the face or restrained your animus and took the time to exact a rancorous counterblow – we want to know Exactly how you gained satisfaction.

Also acceptable are stories about food that’s better when it’s, like, cold.

As always, we’ll be having our awesome Bake-off where we’ll be taking your finest treats and having them battle for king of the cookie so bring your champion confection! The winner will win a lovely prize as well as a round of applause from our eternally comely audience.

So catalogue your transgressors and come achieve catharsis at Milk & Cookies! Or, you know, come tell stories about stuff.

And of course, Milk and Cookies <3s you!

Milk and Cookie Stories is for anyone who has a story to tell, or wants to hear a tale told well, in a relaxed, friendly environment – a place with tea, cushions, cookies and friends. Our event is free, everyone is welcome and we welcome stories of all kinds.

This month we’re looking for stories about heroes and their less popular contemporaries – villains. Whether you’ve marvelled at them from afar or studied their every adaptation like a fierce, driven detective whose parents may or may not have been killed during his turbulent childhood; heroes & villains are the mainstay of almost any story. They don’t always have to be superpowered. They don’t need to have a costume. They don’t even need a bitchin’ origin story. But every good story needs them. We’re talking brass tacks here ladies and gents – protagonists and antagonists. Lets hear about yours.

As always, we’ll be having our awesome Bake-off where we’ll be taking your finest treats and having them battle for king of the cookie so bring your champion confection! The winner will win a lovely prize as well as a round of applause from our eternally comely audience.

So grab your capes, put your underwear on outside your trousers, and bring your thrilling tales of taciturn heroes and talkative villains with you to The Exchange.

And of course, Milk and Cookies <3s you!

P.S. You wanna know how I got these scars…?

Beyond that line past which the map goes no further, thar be the Exchange, and inside – Here Be Monsters!

This month we’ll be showcasing monsters yarns of all shapes and sizes. From the cutsey Pixar ones to that terrifying one you never really saw properly in Cloverfield. But of course M&C welcomes all stories – if you just have some yarn to spin, don’t worry too much about the theme. So come one, come all, young and old, and share a sceal if you can. If not, you’re always welcome to sit, relax and enjoy the lovely surroundings as well.

Also this month – we have a special guest all the way from the Big Apple! Robin Bady (www.robinbady.com), wordsmith extraordinare, will be throwing syllables around the room with reckless abandon, pouring her narrative expertise directly into your earholes. Get ready for it.

As always, we’ll be having our awesome Bake-off where we’ll be taking your finest treats and having them battle for king of the cookie so bring your champion confection! The winner will win a lovely prize as well as a round of applause from our eternally comely audience.

So, open your closests & reach under your beds, find your monsters and head to the Exchange on August 9th for some cookies, coffee, tea, cushions, duvets, stories and MONSTERS!

Also, we just put on a festival and it RAWKED. A massive Milk and Cookies thank you to everyone who came to the Secret Garden Festival and made it so wonderful. That’s the volunteers, the performers, the audience members, the people who started as audience members but became volunteers or performers by the end of the night, Martinstown House, that really cute puppy and the people who kept the campfires burning… we could go on! We all had a great time (despite the drizzle) and we really hope you did too. Milk and Cookies ♥ festivals and Milk and Cookies ♥ you!

Thank you to everyone who came on Tuesday and made it such a wonderful evening! We were just blown away by both the talented newcomers and the old favourites with new tricks.

We’re hard at work on our next fairytale. Once upon a time there was a beautiful cottage out in Kildare, surrounded by glorious gardens. But the folks who lived in the cottage were lonely. “What if” they thought, “we invited Milk and Cookie Stories and all their friends to come down to visit? For one glorious weekend, our glorious gardens would be filled with music, laughter, stories, cookies, dancing, theatre and magic!”

And so it came to pass that Milk and Cookie Stories put the word out, and gathered all the finest bards, seanchaí and entertainers in the land, so that a weekend might be had that would be remembered for many a year, the memories of which would warm many a long cold winter to come.

The date was set! The 30th and 31st of July. The fires were lit! The ovens were made ready for an onslaught of cookie dough. And word of the wondrous event was spread through the land.

To gain entry, you must pass three terrifying challenges:
1. Slay a fearsome dragon (we recommend going to Wales or Japan, apparently that’s where they hang out).
2. Rescue a beautiful princess (again a trip abroad required – Kate Middleton’ll do quite nicely thanks)
3. Acquire a golden ticket. This is the easy bit: just go to our eventelephant page:(http://www.eventelephant.com/secretgardenfestival) or find us in Exchange Dublin from 2-6pm on this or next Saturday afternoon.
