Thanks and apologies! Míle Buíochas agus Leithscéal. Thanks for coming out and taking part of what we thought was a fun experiment – some amazing new bilingual storytellers came out of the woodwork, and the bakeoff entries were delicious. My personal favourite? Ruth’s tremendously sweet, and not at all naughty story about the girl with the “magic tongue” – I’m so sorry Ruth, my mistranslation of “entice” as “seduce” fully deserved the filthy look it got.
And apologies for the rain from above! (For those of you who weren’t there – a pipe burst upstairs and we had to abandon ship at half-time… seems like that would’ve been so much more appropriate for Disaster Stories). So sorry about that – there were great acts and tasty cakes to come. But lightning is unlikely to strike twice, so I hope you’ll all be back for “Truth or Fiction” next month!
Also, Big News: we had our first ever Repeat Bakeoff Winner! Yes, Steph Gallagher, Le Champion Du Monde Bake-Off Avril returned from a hard stint of altitude training to sweep the competition for a record-breaking second time with some absolutely delicious Chocolate Biscuit Cake (did I have some? you bet)! She narrowly beat tough competition from The Guys Who Had A Tasty Edible Irish Flag On Their Entry.
Watch this space for photos, podcasts and movies – our own Tom Rowley was on the scene with a videocamera!
And now we will rise for the Gallagherian National Anthem…
Go raibh maith agaibh go léir!
